Battle Royales are a genre of video games that combine various different video game concepts and genres into one. They are mainly a blend of FPS, Online Multiplayer, exploration and survival. Some battle royales put other layers and twists on top of that premise to be unique from other battle royales. For example, the construction feature in Fortnite.
A typical battle royale game can involve dozens or up to hundreds of players inside a region. Players need to find and equip themselves by scavenging the area for weapons and equipment. The playable area shrinks over time to push the players into closer proximity of each other and dissuade camping.Players need to fight each other until there is only one player standing.
The popularity of Battle Royale games has skyrocketed in the past 3-4 years, especially since the advent of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegound (PUBG) and Fortnite Battle Royale.
Some popular Battle Royales are:
PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG)

Battle Royale Betting
Battle Royales have been a topic of contention within the Esports community. Many believe they are not a viable Esport due to the unpredictable nature and randomness of every match in the game. Loot drops are randomized around the map so there is a lot upto luck of the players that can give them advantage or disadvantages. Moreover, some times a skilled player can be sniped across the map by a much worse player than him and he might not even have the chance to react or see his attacker before he’s dead. Due to this element of randomness, it can affect your ability to bet on players as the performance and skill and statistics can go out the window any second over any small mistake by the player
PUBG
PUBG is THE most popular game on Steam, at its peak, regularly hitting 2–3 million daily users. The game already incorporates a lot of betting features as part of its gaming experience and has an existing, large betting community that is expanding every day. PUBG fans can find lots of betting sites out there on which they can wager on their favourite game. More and more people are becoming interested in Esports betting all the time, but PUBG is still relatively new to the Esports betting scene. As such, PUBG betting is mostly done for in-game skins which are highly sought after. Much like CS: GO skin betting.
PUBG betting is still relatively new to the industry, with looser regulations than traditional sportsbooks or online casinos. There are a few factors you can look out for in order to tell if a site seems reliable or not. Look out for sites with consistent traffic from a large number of players, a site that offers multiple games/options to punters, and lastly, offers betting on established Esport titles like CounterStrike: Global Offensive, as these sites are probably the most safe and reliable.
There are four main types of bets that can be made on the game
Jackpot games, in which players build a jackpot by wagering their loot or skins. The value of the loot wagered dictates a player’s odds of winning. Once a bet is closed, these sites usually make a random spin to determine a winner who takes the entire pot, minus a small commission taken by the site.
Coin Flips are another type of game, in which 1 on 1 bets are placed, with each player having an equal chance of winning.
PUBG Roulette is the next type of game available, similar to its traditional counterpart, players making wagers on colours.
The last type of game is called Crash, in which players make wagers and then watch a graphic that has their win rate number inside. The higher the number, the more you win, players being required to cash out before the game ends by ‘crashing’.

Fortnite Battle Royale
Fortnite betting can be done at many Esports betting sites when there are professional competitions underway or coming up. The Esports scene surrounding Fortnite is expanding rapidly, with over 250 million people playing it globally.
Making a Fortnite Bet
When it comes to betting on Fortnite, especially for the World Cup, there are two basic bet types you can make. Each will net you some major cash if you bet correctly.
Moneyline
One of the easier bets you can make is a moneyline wager. This involves you simply picking a winner outright. If you think Ninja is going to take it all, you would place a straight-up bet on him.
Let’s say you bet $40 on Ninja and he wins, you’d get a payout of $760–your original $40 is returned along with your winnings of $720.
Props
Prop betting is available at most Esports betting sites and allows you to wager on factors like:
- Top 3 finishers – Who will be the top three players left standing before the final.
- Region – This isn’t where the player is from, but where their server is located (Asia, Brazil, Europe, North America East, North America West, Oceania)
- Solos – Which player will win it all (somewhat like the moneyline)
- Duos – Which duo will come out on top (also like the moneyline)

Tips for betting:
Landing Spot can decide the future of a player early on in the game. Look at the player. If he’s going to land in a hub, he is more likely to run into a lot of other opponents. There is a high chance of death but the risk can be worth it as it also means more potential kills. Some players prefer a defensive approach by landing in secluded spots.
Look out for good builders. A player who understands the mechanics of the game and masters it will probably succeed more. Late game strategies often involve assaults and trench warfare through building skills. Anybody skilled in that will have a natural advantage.
Although skill is one thing, weapons/equipment can affect players’ chances of success.
Rifles, Shotguns, Snipers, Rocket launchers etc, all can affect the tide of battle in an assault depending on your team’s inventory.
Focusing on the weaponisation of the team will allow you to garner insight on how the odds may change as the game ticks towards a conclusion.
You can also use the Fortnite Tracker for leaderboards and detailed statistics. Granted, the matchmaking tends to mix veterans with newcomers, but you can still see the best stand out from the rest.
Following Twitch Streamers will help people to make better decisions on whom to pick. Streamers and Pro are more likely to compete and win, narrowing down your choices. It’s not advised to look up all 100 players in a match to make analysis. Pros and streamers make for more reliable choices because they are at the top for a reason and you are well acquainted with their skills and tactics. Which makes them dependable.
Although the Fortnite competitive scene may not be as abundant as we would like, there are some standout teams to follow that dominate the Esports scene like C9,FaZe Clan, OptiC gaming, etc. They can be some reliable choices to favor.
